MA Pork Law Stay of Action extended to August 2023

We have confirmed that an agreement has been reached by the plaintiffs (restaurant, hospitality, lodging and pork industry representatives) and the defendants (MA Attorney General and Department of Agricultural Resources) in a joint motion that was filed on July 3 and approved by U.S. District Court Judge Guzman, to extend the July 13 stay of application of MA pork laws and regulations until August 23, 2023, the day enforcement is expected to begin.

The Joint motion to extend the stay indicates that: “…the parties jointly request that the Court extend the stay of this action until August 23, 2023, by which time the Parties will file a proposal for future proceedings in the case, if any.”

The message we received today from the Attorney General reads: As of yesterday, the federal district court has stayed the MA Pork Rules until August 23, 2023.  The MA Pork Rules will not be enforced against any plaintiff or non-party for any conduct that occurs during the stay period, as extended by today’s order.

We will circulate a signed copy as soon as we receive it.  Please see attached the case as filed and contact the office if you have any questions.  We apologize for any duplicative messages but wanted to make sure everyone was aware.
